Washington DC. “Under the organization of Tamang Society Greater Washington USA, on the upcoming February 21, renowned Nepali folk and dohori singer Raju Pariyar will deliver a powerful performance on the auspicious occasion of Sonam Lhochhar 2862, the Year of the Horse.” In Washington Metropolitan City, Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

A special cultural program will be held on February 21, 2026, with the aim of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Nepali and Tamang communities living in Northern Virginia, near the U.S. capital region. Nepal’s celebrated folk artist Raju Pariyar will headline the event with a dynamic selection of Nepali folk and dohori performances.

The program is being organized in celebration of the Tamang community’s major festival, Sonam Lhochhar.

The opening segment will feature performances by Sumitra Lama Tamang and Binod Tamang, followed by melody of Tamang selo presentations from other local artists.

Traditional Tamang cultural performances—including Tamang dance and group presentations accompanied by iconic instruments such as Damphu, Tungna, and Murali—will follow.
A special musical segment by Raju Pariyar will conclude the cultural showcase.

According to the organizing committee, the event is expected to play a significant role in strengthening cultural ties, mutual cooperation, and collective identity among Nepali and Tamang communities across the United States.

Residents of Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., and surrounding states are warmly invited to attend. Additional details will be released progressively.
