Chief of Security Organizations not offering Dashain tika to subordinates

Kathmandu. Offering Dashain Tika to the subordinates during Dashain Festival is a customary practice
followed by the chiefs of all 3 national security organizations in Nepal. However, this year, due to the increased risk of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief of Army Staff, Purna Chandra Thapa, Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, and the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Shailendra Khanal, have circulated notices regarding the postponing of the event.

The spokesperson of the Armed Police Force, Deputy Inspector General Raju Aryal stated that the IGP has requested everyone to celebrate Dashain indoors, with their respective families. Additionally, the barracks have been instructed not to carry out mass tika programs.

Spokesperson for the Nepal Army, Brigadier General Shantosh Ballave Poudyal informed that the Tika program was not scheduled this year in order to maintain health security protocols. Similarly, Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Kuber Kadayat informed that a notice has been circulated, with the instructions to celebrate Dashain by maintaining physical distance.
