Senior journalist Madhav Rimal dies at 96

Kathmandu. 96-year-old senior journalist Madhav Kumar Rimal passed away on Wednesday night, several hours after the fall of oxygen level in his body.  His family informed that he had no physical ailments even at the age of 96.

The late Rimal was the editor-in-chief of Spotlight Magazine and had previously served in government offices for a long time. Rimal had also served as Nepal’s last Consul-General to Dhaka in East Pakistan before Bangladesh and Pakistan separated.

Senior journalist Dhruva Hari Adhikari stated that late Rimal had gone to Dhankuta as an election official in the general election in 2015 B.S., and was also the last citizen to meet the late King Birendra.

Madhav Prasad Rimal’s last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on the same night.
