NEPSE breaks turnover record, index reaches four-year high
Kathmandu. Nepali share market today reached a new high in daily turnover which was over 6.11 billion rupees. Prior to this, the highest turnover amount in a day had been 4.85 billion rupees that was made in March 1, this year.
The market had taken an upward trend from the very beginning on Thursday. The index closed at 1,778.12, which was a huge 36.32 points rise from yesterday. The last time the index closed above 1,780 was four years back, on October 23, 2016.
14,062,507 shares of 198 scrips were exchanged through 56,341 transactions, creating an all time high figure of 6.11 billion rupees.
All sectors were green today, from which trading gained the most 9.94 percent, whereas, the non-life insurance sector saw the highest increment point-wise with of 399.16 points.
Experts owe the bullish trend in the market to the constriction in other investment sectors created by the pandemic. Investors from all sectors have put their money in the stock market, they speculate.
