Kathmandu, December 20. A major part of an iceberg that was headed towards Southern Georgia has been broken into two by strong water currents. The iceberg, termed as A68A, was spinned 180 degrees by the strong water currents which caused it to loose a large chunk of its mass.
The new piece of iceberg has been named A68D. Researchers have said that the breaking of iceberg could disturb the underwater ecosystems and disrupt the wildlife in nearby areas. Scientists have been studying the path of the original and displaced icebergs, predicting that it could cause environmental disasters in the coastal areas.
