65-year-old Thai woman sentenced to 43 years in prison for posting social media content
She was initially charged for 87 years of imprisonment, but, since she acknowledged her violations, her sentence was halved to 43 years.
Kathmandu, January 20. A Criminal Court of Thailand on Tuesday jailed a 65-year-old Thai woman accused of sharing online posts insulting the royal monarchy. Former civil servant Anchan Preelert was initially charged for 87 years of imprisonment, but, since she acknowledged her violations of the “lese majeste”, the court had halved her sentence to 43
