Chinese Defense Minister to visit Nepal
Kathmandu. Chinese Defense Minister and State Councilor, General Wei Fenghe is scheduled to visit Nepal in late November.
According to government sources, it has been confirmed that the minister will be visiting Nepal, though the date and schedule of the visit have not been decided yet. General Wei has been the first-ranked state councilor of the People’s Republic of China, since March 2018. Wei, a former rocket force commander within the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), is the first of the four members of the Central Military Commission, chaired by President Xi Jinping.
Earlier, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, the Chief of the Indian Army had visited Nepal. The visit of high-ranking defense officials from the North-South neighborhood to Nepal seems like a competition to fulfill certain interests for the concerned states.
However, according to the India-Nepal Army tradition, Naravane had come to Nepal to receive the honorary title of ‘Maharathi’. Earlier, Samant Kumar Goyal, head of the Indian intelligence agency, RAW, had also paid a visit to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
