Flood in Nepal: 88 people died since Sunday morning

Kathmandu, October 21. This week, 88 people have died and 30 people went missing as a result of landslides, floods, and inundation caused by severe rain in various parts of the country.

Westerlies have been affecting several districts of Nepal since Sunday. On Saturday and Sunday, heavy downpours caused major rivers to swell up.

On Tuesday, 11 people died due to landslides. 63 people were reported dead on Wednesday. And, 11 people died on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, the Home Ministry spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokharel announced that landslides have caused the highest destruction of lives and infrastructures in Panchthar, Illam and Doti.

While Addressing the 8th meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba ordered the authorities to work for rescue and relief operations and assured them that the operations would not face any budget crunch.
