The biggest taekwondo competition to be held outside Nepal

Kathmandu, October 30.  The 13th edition of the International Open Friendly Taekwondo Championship (IOFTC), the biggest taekwondo competition organized by Nepalis outside Nepal, will be held in Michigan, USA.

The 13th edition of the International Open Friendly Taekwondo Championships will be held in Michigan, USA on Friday, the IOFTC said.

The competition, organized by the Everest Taekwondo Association of Michigan under the auspices of IOFTC, will be held from May 13 to 14, said competition coordinator Love Prasad Gorkhali.

Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to take place in Michigan on May 1 and 2, 2020, but was postponed due to the global epidemic of corona virus (Covid-19). Five players from Nepal were also selected for the tournament.

“It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. We understand the state of their training and make decisions after discussion. ‘ Coordinator Gorkhali said, “Since we have made a long choice, we will focus on making new choices.”

More than 600 players from 20 countries will participate in the tournament. There will be competition for 65 gold, 65 silver and 130 bronze medals in senior and junior categories. Five players from Nepal including 3 men and 2 women will participate.

Out of the last 12 editions, 5 competitions were held in the USA, 4 in Nepal and 1-1 in India, UK and Hong Kong.

According to the organizers, the competition will cost around Rs 12 million.
IOFTC, headed by Diwakar Maharjan, is headquartered in Portland, USA
