Kathmandu, January 10. The Department of Transportation Management (DoTM) announced on Monday that vehicles renewing their registrations after January 15 will be required to have embossed number plates.

The department’s spokeswoman, Dr Loknath Bhushal, told reporters that the announcement is part of the drive to make embossed number plate systems a nationwide standard.

Earlier on November 16, 2020, the department had launched the drive for the vehicles registering on the transport management offices but the effort was cancelled owing to the pandemic.

The department has also signed a contract with an information technology firm “Tiger IT” which will design, print and supply the plates to the transport management offices.
