Nepali Army announces 24.5-kilometer mountain trail race in Sindhupalchowk

Kathmandu, October 12.  The Nepali Army has announced that it will be organizing the third edition of ‘The Listikot-Dugunagadhi Mountain Trail Race’ on November 3. 

The mountain trail race was introduced in 2020 to highlight and promote the importance of two historic places, Dugunagadhi and Listimai Temple in the Sindhupalchowk district. 

Nepali Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information informed reporters that the 24.5-kilometer race will run through the banks of the Bhotekoshi river. The route is a part of a larger network of military routes used during the Nepal-Tibet war. The race will conclude at a newly constructed bridge in Dugunagadhi.

The directorate confirmed that the trail race will be divided into three categories:

  • Open Category
  • Women Category
  • A Category for local residents

The winners of the open category will receive Rs 1.1 lakhs, 75 thousand, and 55 thousand cash prizes.

Similarly, the first three finishers in the woman’s category will be given cash prizes worth Rs 60 thousand, 35 thousand, and 20 thousand.

The local winners will receive cash prizes of 30 thousand, 20 thousand, and 15 thousand rupees.
