Kathmandu, March 6. Huge masses of people gathered in Kathmandu’s Basantapur Durbar area on Monday to celebrate Holi, the Hindu festival of colors. Holi, also known as the “festival of love,” “festival of spring,” and “festival of colors,” is celebrated by many Hindu communities around the world, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The festival signifies the beginning of spring and the harvest season. People celebrate the Holi festival by splashing each other with various colors, including red vermilion powder.
