Kathmandu, May 10. The Council of Ministers has approved a new provision for Nepali nationals returning from foreign employment to bring two mobile phones with them.

The decision was taken on Tuesday evening during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, as per a proposal put forward by Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.

A notice issued on May 28, 2020, had previously permitted returnees to bring one each set of desktop computer or laptop, tab, wristwatch, camera, video camera, and the mobile phone being used.

However, under the new provision, migrant Nepali workers abroad who are returning home can now bring in one more unused/new mobile phone with them. To do so, they must produce evidence that they have obtained a labor permit and have continuously worked in the destination country for at least six months.
