Missing Manang Air Helicopter Found Crashed at Lamjura Pass in Solukhumbu District
Kathmandu, July 12. The missing helicopter of Manang Air has been found crashed at the Lamjura pass area of Likhupike rural municipality-5 in Solukhumbu district.
The helicopter, with the call sign 9NA-MV, was en route to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu and was carrying six passengers, including a pilot. It had gone missing since 10:01 am on Tuesday.
Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Basanta Bhattarai, confirmed that the helicopter was found in a crashed condition. Initial information suggests that the chopper met with an accident at Lamjura pass. The crash site is located at the border of Likhupike in Solukhumbu and Umakunda rural municipality in Ramechhap.
At the scene of the tragedy, five bodies have been found, he continued. A Kathmandu-based chopper from Altitude Air and a Nepal Police team sent from Solukhumbu were also called into service for the search mission.
Raju Neupane, the manager of Manang Air, confirmed that the five passengers on board the helicopter were Mexican nationals.
