Imran Khan Expected to Get Relief in Al-Qadir Trust Case Soon

Islamabad, June 9: Former Pakistani Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is expected to receive potential relief in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case on June 11.
Top PTI leaders claimed that the Islamabad High Court is likely to hear appeals on Tuesday to suspend the sentences of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi and possibly grant them bail.
Imran Khan, 72, has been in Adiala Jail since August 2023, facing several criminal charges. Among them, the Al-Qadir Trust case is considered the most high-profile, with serious corruption allegations against both Khan and his wife.
PTI leader and lawyer Gauhar Ali Khan expressed confidence that June 11 could be a decisive day, though he did not provide specific reasons for the expected relief.
The case revolves around £190 million seized by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) from the family of businessman Malik Riaz. Khan’s government allegedly adjusted this amount against Malik Riaz’s company liabilities instead of depositing it into Pakistan’s national treasury.
In return, Malik Riaz reportedly donated hundreds of acres of land near Karachi to the Al-Qadir Trust, whose trustees are Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. The transaction has since raised serious concerns about corruption and abuse of power.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is actively investigating the case, with a key court hearing scheduled for June 11.
