Nepali Photographer Clinches Second Place in UN FAO’s Millet Photo Contest

Kathmandu, Dec 20: A stunning photograph captured by Nepali photographer Raj Adhikari in Nawalparasi has secured the second-place position in the Year of Millets photo competition organized by the United Nations World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Recently, FAO unveiled the first-place winner along with four photos selected for the second place. The public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo among the four from December 11th to 15th. Following the voting period, Raj Adhikari’s photograph titled ‘Role of women in millet conservation’ emerged victorious, claiming the second spot.

With 800 submissions from 58 countries, the competition showcased a diverse array of perspectives on millet. The first-place honor was bestowed upon a photo captured by South Africa’s Jonathan Reese.

The recognition of a Nepali photographer in this global competition underscores the talent and creativity present within Nepal’s photography community.
