Kathmandu, March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, President Ram Chandra Poudel emphasized the importance of proportional inclusion in ensuring meaningful representation and leadership for women in various fields, including politics, society, economy, culture, and education.
Speaking at the event, President Poudel highlighted the need for greater participation of women in decision-making roles, stating that gender equality and women’s empowerment can only be achieved when women feel included in all sectors, such as education, health, employment, and policymaking.
He also expressed concern over the increasing incidents of physical and mental violence against girls and teenagers due to harmful traditions and social customs. He urged for the implementation of effective and creative programs to eliminate such practices.
In his message, President Poudel called for collective efforts to end all forms of violence, discrimination, and harassment against women. He stressed that empowering women would lead to the development of families, society, and the entire nation.
On the 15th International Women’s Day, he extended his best wishes to Nepali women and women’s rights activists working for gender equality at home and abroad.
The United Nations’ theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.” The day is observed globally to recognize women’s economic, political, and social contributions, expand access to technology and education, and advocate for women’s rights and safety.
