President Poudel Affirms Army’s Commitment to Peace, Freedom, and National Pride

Kathmandu, April 10: President Ram Chandra Poudel has affirmed that Nepal’s army and security forces remain unwavering in their commitment to the nation’s freedom, constitutional order, and peace. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the pre-deployment training for Shree New Bhairavidal Gulm 7th Daffa in Panchkhal, Kavre, on Thursday, President Poudel — who also serves as the commander-in-chief of the Nepal Army — praised the role of the army both within the country and on the global stage.
Highlighting the Nepal Army’s longstanding participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, President Poudel stated that their discipline, loyalty, efficiency, and dedication have earned global recognition. He recalled the 67-year history of the Nepal Army’s involvement in international missions, noting that 58 Nepali peacekeepers have lost their lives in service of global peace, and that the army has contributed to 44 UN missions to date.
Currently, more than 6,000 Nepali peacekeepers are deployed across 11 different missions. President Poudel expressed pride in Nepal’s significant contribution to international peacekeeping efforts, stating that the Nepal Army represents not just military strength but also national pride, humanity, and peace on the world stage.
He also addressed the changing global landscape and rising regional and international security challenges, assuring that the deployed personnel are mentally and physically prepared for the realities of their mission. President Poudel underscored the importance of upholding Nepal’s image and reputation globally, urging all soldiers to carry forward the legacy of bravery, service, and sacrifice.
Observing a detailed presentation of the team’s peace mission preparations, the President extended his best wishes for the success of the troops in fulfilling their responsibilities and maintaining Nepal’s esteemed standing in the global community.
