Bharat Biotech urges people with medical conditions to avoid COVAXIN
Kathmandu, January 19. The makers of India’s first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine “COVAXIN”, Bharat Biotech has urged immuno-compromised patients to avoid getting inoculated with the covid-19 vaccine.
According to the official statement, people with these conditions should not participate in the vaccination campaign.
- Have any allergies or fever
- Have bleeding disorders (or, on a blood-thinning medication)
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have HIV infection or are immuno-compromised (or, on medications that reduces immunity power)
- Have already received a covid-19 vaccine
- Cancer patients (or, receiving Chemotherapy)
The vaccine manufacturer also requests people to disclose their serious medical history and conditions to the vaccination officers.
The vaccination drive in India started recently on January 16. By the end of the second day, a total of 447 people had already reported side effects and three people were admitted to the hospitals in Delhi and Rishikesh.
