India was shocked to witness the insult of the Tricolour on Republic Day: PM Narendra Modi
Kathmandu, February 1. While speaking on a monthly radio programme ‘Mann ki Baat’, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the violent protest on the National Republic Day was an insult to the tricolour of the Indian flag.
Marking his first comment regarding the farmer’s protest, PM Modi also said that the government is committed to modernising agriculture and is also taking many steps in that direction.
Leaders of the farmers’ movement said that their movement was not responsible for the violence which was caused by a small number of protestors. They also said that the government didn’t listen to their demands for a long time due to which a number of protestors were forced to take the step.
On the morning of January 26, when India was busy celebrating its 72nd Republic day, an estimated mass of more than 6,000 farmers clashed with the Police around the 400-year old Red Fort. One died and hundreds were injured in the violent clash.
Delhi Police and its crime branch is currently probing into the matter. On Sunday, a team of Delhi Police and Forensic laboratory investigated the site. The Crime Branch is also tracking the suspects being based on 1,700 video clips and footage. At Least 84 people have been arrested and 38 FIRs have been registered so far.
