Chitwan National Park opens for tourists after five months
Kathmandu, October 3. The Chitwan National Park has officially reopened its doors to tourism.
Tourism activities were discontinued in April when the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak emerged in Nepal.
Ananath Baral, the park’s Chief Conservation Officer, informed that a variety of tourism activities including elephant safaris, boat rides, and forest walks has been reopened. ‘Visitors can even spend the night in the communal tower-houses inside the forest,’ Baral said. He also confirmed that the internal roads for jeep safaris have been repaired.
Deepak Bhattarai, Chairman of the Sauraha Regional Hotel Association said that the domestic and international tourists will now be able to participate in all of the national park’s events including cultural shows.
