Kathmandu, February 11. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has revealed that Russia could invade Ukraine anytime soon, including the time during the Winter Olympics.
He said during a conference, “Simply put, we continue to see very troubling signs of Russian escalation, including new forces arriving at the Ukrainian border”. He further said that Washington will continue the process to draw down their embassy.
US President Biden has advised all Americans to leave Ukraine as soon as possible. In a pre-taped video, he said, “American citizens should leave now. We’re dealing with one of the largest armies in the world. It’s a very different situation and things could go crazy quickly”.
Russia has more than 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders. They have denied all the accusations from the west, while starting military drills with neighboring Belarus. Ukraine has also further accused Russia of blocking its access to the sea.
While Russia wants a written guarantee that NATO will not expand into Ukraine, the US and NATO have denied the demands.
