Kathmandu, April 27. Nepal Government on Wednesday announced two days off in a week. The decision will be implemented from May 15 onwards on a trial basis.

Government Spokesperson and Communications and Information Technology Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki revealed the decision. The decision was taken by the meeting of Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

Additionally, office hours have been changed to 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Previously, Nepal had only one day off during the weekend on Saturday.

The decision is expected to reduce fuel consumption. Earlier, Nepal Oil Corporation suggested for two days off in a week to reduce fuel consumption and to increase the depleting forex reserves. The import of fuel is blamed for depleting forex reserves in Nepal.
