Pakistan’s Sindh facing water scarcity, asks for government’s help

Kathmandu, May 5. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon appealed to the federal government of Pakistan on Thursday to address the province’s water crisis and provide water.
According to the Express Tribune, Memon urged the federal government to pay attention to the ongoing water shortage in Sindh through a statement.
He further said that Sindh, which has always been important to Pakistan’s agricultural economy, is now facing difficulties. He said, “There is a severe shortage of drinking water in the province along with problems in irrigation canals.”
The area is facing severe problems in agriculture due to water scarcity.
Minister Memon also said the water supply to Sindh should be ensured under Pakistan’s Water Apportionment Accord of 1991.
Moreover, Pakistan is estimated to be in the top 10 list of the world’s countries facing water scarcity.
