Parbat. Panchakoshi Secondary School at Arthar in Kushma Municipality -14 has divided students into three clusters and teachers of the school go to teach students in their own neighborhood. Sudarshan Secondary School of Kushma Municipality-12 has followed suit.

The government has issued an ‘alternative learning facilitation framework’ and instructed to include students in the learning process. The framework talks about facilitating learning with internet-assisted classes. However, very few students in Parbat have been able to join the virtual classes.

Since most of the students have not been able to participate in learning activities, schools have begun to gather students  in their own localities and conduct activities as per the curriculum.

Jeevan Bikram Uchai, spokesperson of Mahasheela Rural Minicipality, apprises of the situation, “There is no other alternative than using mobile data in rural areas, but students complain about the poor service and high cost.”

“There is no internet service in our area. Since the beginning of the program, teachers have been teaching in their own locality. In places where there are no teachers, teachers from the nearest neighborhood have been approached,” Uchai informed about the ongoing mode of teaching.

Bishnu Tiwari, head of the City Education Department, Kushma Municipality, explained that the system was quite effective as there were no coronavirus cases in the village. He stated that there had been requests as to arrange separate timings and run classes in the physical facility of the schools. However, that was not accepted, as it would go against the government directive.
