Air pollution ‘severe’ in Delhi

Kathmandu, December 5. The air quality in Delhi, India has reached to “severe” category on Sunday. Further, construction and demolition works were restricted to bring down air pollution.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said air quality index (AQI) slipped in to the severe category and that actions will be implemented to bring down pollution levels.Moreover, the actions included curbs on construction and demolition activities, water sprinkling, vacuum based sweeping of roads, among others.
While Delhi’s 24 hour average AQI stood 407 on Sunday, factors like vehicular pollution, construction work, stubble burning activities are to be blamed for such an increase.
The scores of AQI between 201-300 is considered ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’.
Air pollution rises during the winter months (November- February) in Delhi.
