19 year old man attacks three police officers with a Machete during New Year Eve Celebration outside New York’s Times Square
Kathmandu, January 2. During the New Year’s Eve festivities on Saturday night in Times Square, a 19-year-old man attacked three New York Police Department officers with a machete.
The incident occurred at 10:00 p.m. on West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue outside of the Times Square security screening area, according to Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell, who spoke to CNN.
Sewell said that the 19-year-old approached an officer and hit him over the head with a machete. “The officer, who just graduated from the police academy, has a fractured skull and a significant head laceration.” Before one of the officers fired his service weapon, the suspect attacked two more policemen.
The officers and the suspect are currently being treated for their injuries.
