Germany cancels its flights to India
Kathmandu. Due to disagreements between India and Germany over air bubble, Germany’s Lufthansa Airlines has cancelled all flights to India that were to operate from September 30,2020 to October 20, 2020.
The air bubble is an agreement between the two countries in which the airlines of the two nations operate by adopting certain safety standards. The air bubble agreement between Germany and India was signed in July which permits Lufthansa to operate 3 to 4 flights a week.
According to the Times of India the Lufthansa stated that the Indian Government has rejected its invitation for temporary travel agreements. A senior Indian Official speaking to the TOI claimed that there were issues with the “restrictions” placed on Indian travelers wanting to go to Germany, “putting Indian carriers at a significant disadvantage resulting in inequitable distribution of traffic in favour of Lufthansa.”
