Tiger Sightings Guaranteed: Chitwan National Park Introduces Unique Wildlife Experience
Chitwan, Dec 17: Breaking away from the unpredictability of tiger sightings within Chitwan National Park, a novel wildlife experience awaits tourists visiting Bharatpur. The park, home to 128 adult tigers, is set to showcase these majestic creatures on the route to the park from Bharatpur, eliminating the element of luck traditionally associated with spotting tigers in the wild.
To enhance the tourist experience, a wildlife rescue center is being established in the Dakshinkali community forest in the Ranjpost area of Devanagar, Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality-6. Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the park’s information officer, revealed that the initiative aims to provide visitors with a guaranteed opportunity to witness tigers, starting January 1, 2024.
Tiwari stated, “Now tourists coming here do not have to wait for many days to see a tiger.” Despite a minor delay in the construction of cages and scaffolding, preparations are underway to showcase tigers within the month of January.
Concrete cages for tigers, costing Rs 50 lakhs, are being constructed by the park, while the Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation is investing an additional Rs 50 lakhs in road development and two stilt houses. To manage tiger viewings, the Bis Hazari Lake Management Board is considering ticket sales, with funds generated from TikTok contributing to the nurturing of the tigers.
In the event of the need to control certain tigers in Kasara and Sauraha, where there are currently four and two ferocious tigers respectively, the wildlife rescue center will display another tiger in a cage. The center also rescues and houses other wild animals such as rhinoceros and elephants, making it a comprehensive destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
Renu Dahal, Chief of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality, expressed that the rare spotted tiger will be a highlight for tourists visiting during Bharatpur’s visit year. She added, “The metropolis is managing the scaffolding to see the wildlife rescue center and the road to reach it.”
While parts of Bharatpur Metropolitan City touch the park, efforts are being made to promote tourism in the region. Despite its significance, the area has faced challenges in terms of promotion. The serene coastal area of the Rapti river, adorned with hotels offering tourist facilities, has increasingly become a preferred destination for park visitors seeking tranquility and picturesque surroundings.
