Israelis Rally in Tel Aviv Against Netanyahu’s Government Amid Gaza Conflict
Kathmandu, Jan 21: Thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, accusing it of jeopardizing the country’s security. The demonstrations, which resumed after being banned last year, reflect widespread dissatisfaction with the current leadership.
The protesters, waving Israeli flags and holding placards with various slogans, expressed their frustration with Netanyahu’s handling of the security situation. Although the crowd was smaller compared to previous gatherings in 2023, the demonstrators beat drums to convey their discontent.
The rally took place amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza, and the protesters demanded a change of power. A recent poll also indicated low public support for Netanyahu, adding to the calls for a shift in leadership.
Notably, relatives of Israelis still held hostage in Gaza joined the demonstration, urging the government to take action for the release of their loved ones. The renewed protests underscore the challenges faced by Netanyahu’s government in maintaining public confidence during a tumultuous period.
