Kathmandu, Jan 22: In an effort to ease escalating tensions, Pakistan and Iran have reached an agreement to reinstate ambassadors, as announced by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The move follows a recent series of events where Iran launched a missile and drone attack on Pakistani territory, prompting Pakistan to respond with its own missile attack on Iranian soil.

According to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian is scheduled to visit Pakistan on January 29 at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, Jalil Abbas Jilani.

The tension between the two nations flared up after Iran’s attack on Pakistan’s Baluchistan province. Iran claimed the attacks targeted bases of Jaish al-Adal, an extremist organization in Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan launched an attack on Iran’s Sistan Baluchistan region, resulting in nine casualties.

“Following a telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, both sides have decided to reinstate each other’s ambassadors,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This development occurred in the midst of Chinese Foreign Minister Sun Weidong’s visit to Pakistan, where China expressed its engagement with both Iran and Pakistan to facilitate the resolution of their differences.
