Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project to Resume Operations Soon

Kathmandu, Oct 19: Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has announced that the repair work on the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, damaged by recent floods, will commence promptly to restore electricity production.

During an inspection of the damaged infrastructure, Minister Khadka, accompanied by Water Resources Secretary Suresh Acharya, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising, and Dolakha Chief District Officer Tuvraj Pokharel, emphasized the government’s commitment to repairing the project swiftly and minimizing further losses.

“The damage caused by the flood is significant, but we are committed to restarting power generation as quickly as possible,” said Minister Khadka, assuring government support for the restoration efforts.

Project Chief Executive Officer Mohan Prasad Gautam confirmed that efforts are already underway, aiming to resume power production within the next three weeks.
