Modi and Putin Hold Bilateral Talks During BRICS Summit in Russia
Kathmandu, Oct 22: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attending the BRICS summit in Russia, held bilateral discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Media reports indicate that Modi addressed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict during their meeting.
Modi emphasized India’s stance on resolving the conflict peacefully, stating, “We are in constant contact regarding the situation and fully support the restoration of peace and stability as soon as possible. India stands ready to provide all possible assistance in the future.”
In response, Putin acknowledged their previous interactions, saying, “I remember our meeting in July. We had a fruitful discussion and have spoken several times over the phone. I appreciate your acceptance of the invitation to visit Kazan. After the BRICS Summit, we will continue discussions with other leaders at dinner.”
The BRICS summit is taking place in Kazan, Russia. BRICS includes Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, with Iran, Egypt, UAE, and Ethiopia recently joining. Initially established in 2001, the group focuses on exploring mutual investment opportunities.
