Kathmandu, Nov 12: Despite being a vocal critic of newly elected US President Donald Trump in the past, Senator Marco Rubio is reportedly being considered for the role of Secretary of State in the Trump administration.

Rubio, 53, has been a US Senator since 2010 and rose to prominence during the 2016 Republican presidential primaries. During the campaign, he and Trump often traded barbs, with Trump nicknaming him “Little Marco” and Rubio referring to Trump as having “small hands.”

However, their relationship improved over time, with Rubio later campaigning alongside Trump. Reports now suggest that Rubio, a prominent figure in US politics, may be selected for the top diplomatic position, a move that underscores Trump’s readiness to work with former adversaries.

If appointed, Rubio would lead US foreign policy as Secretary of State, one of the most influential roles in the federal government.
