Kathmandu, May 22: The CPN-UML Central Secretariat meeting has begun reviewing the party’s overall condition and recent election results amid growing internal dissatisfaction.

During the meeting held at party chairman KP Sharma Oli’s residence, five vice-chairpersons reportedly expressed strong dissatisfaction with Oli’s leadership style and the growing concentration of power within the party.

According to UML Propaganda Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, the meeting focused on reviewing the election in two phases. He described the discussions as unusually direct, stating that senior leaders openly voiced criticisms and concerns regarding the party’s direction and leadership.

The vice-chairpersons are said to have pushed for reform, transformation and policy changes in response to the country’s changing political environment. Some leaders also reportedly emphasized the need for leadership change within the party.

As tensions rose during the discussions, sensitive topics such as division of responsibilities among leaders could not be finalized. Party leaders reportedly suggested major amendments to the proposed division of labor.

Chairman Oli himself reportedly responded to the criticisms and clarified several issues during the meeting in an attempt to address concerns raised by party leaders.

The atmosphere within the Secretariat has become increasingly tense, with more leaders expected to speak in the next meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning. According to party officials, 12 additional leaders are yet to present their views, potentially increasing pressure on Oli’s leadership and working style.
