Nepalis in Qatar to receive free COVID-19 vaccines

Kathmandu. Nepalis in Qatar will receive free corona vaccines as per the Qatari government’s announcement to provide COVID-19 vaccination to everyone in Qatar who require them free of charge.

Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, the Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, told Qatar TV that Qatar was trying to secure enough quantities of vaccines to ensure vaccination for all.

Qatar Tribune mentions Dr Khal stating that the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) was making great efforts to obtain the vaccine as soon as it became available. He also informed that the ministry has contacted pharmaceutical companies known for their proven quality and early safe trials and effectiveness.

Dr Khal stated that Pfizer will produce one billion doses in 2021 and Qatar hoped to buy the vaccines in the largest quantity at the earliest. “We hope Qatar will get to obtain the first quantities of the vaccine at the end of the year or early next year,” he said.

There are more than four hundred thousand Nepalis working in Qatar at present.
