COVID-19 cases around the world exceed 50 million

Kathmandu. The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the globe has exceeded 50 million. According to the latest statistics, 52,041,879 people have been infected with the deadly virus. The statistics show that in the last 24 hours alone, more than 592,500 infected people were added.

The United States has till date faced the worst effects of the pandemic, with the number of positive cases exceeding 10 million. There have been 1,177,934 people confirmed to have the virus in the US till date, with 119,300 new infections recorded within the last 24 hours alone. The death toll has reached 243,000, including one thousand that have been stated since yesterday.

As per the statistics, the number of coronavirus infections has been increased daily in France also, where the second wave is being witnessed. In the last 24 hours, 86,852 new COVID-19 infections have been reported. With this, the number of infected people in France has increased to 1.748 million. More than 40,000 people have died including 300 people in the past 24 hours, leaving the country with roughly more than 1.58 million active infections.

In India, the number of infections is steadily increasing. Till date, there are 8.57 million people infected with coronavirus, while there were more than 126 thousand deaths. Although there are more than 8.5 million infected people, the number of active infected people is only 513 thousand as many as the number of people who have recovered is 7.86 million.

In the last 24 hours, more than 20 thousand coronavirus cases have been reported in five more countries around the world. In Italy, the number was 39,800; in Poland 27,800; in the United Kingdom 24,900; in Brazil 21 thousand, and in Russia there were 20,300 new COVID-19 infections. The infections have also risen by 17 thousand in Germany; 10 thousand in Ukraine; 9 thousand each in Romania, Iran, Colombia, Belgium, Austria and Argentina.
