Kathmandu. In an interview with Sky News on Remembrance Sunday, the United Kingdom Chief of Defense Staff General Sir Nick Carter warned that the COVID-19 pandemic and its devastating effects on the economy is creating a real risk of the Third World War.

The Chief also suggested to be conscious of the risks of the pandemic as it has triggered regional conflicts similar to those observed before the previous World Wars.

According to Carter, The UK military by 2030 may have around 30 thousand remotely controlled military robots alongside with 90,000 human soldiers in the frontline.

He also asked the government to move ahead in reviewing the five-year integrated defense plan which he believes that the country’s treasury had postponed due to the crisis caused by the pandemic.

Adding to this, Carter opined that the involvement of trained robots would not only fill the gaps in the decreased production of the trained human army but also, will contribute in reducing human dependency. “The army has had trouble meeting recruitment targets, with just 73,870 trained soldiers when it expected 82,050”.
