Kathmandu. The 8th Corps Commander level dialogue between China and India on November 6 in Chushul led to an agreement on a three-step disengagement plan between the two countries currently embroiled in border dispute.

As reported by the Times of India, the disengagement plan will be carried out in three steps. The first will see the armored vehicles including tanks and personnel carriers to be moved back from frontline deployment to a little beyond the Line of Actual Control.

The second step expects 30% of the troops to be withdrawn each day for three days. while the final step requires them to retract from the frontline positions.

All the steps apply to both sides equally and the developments are to be verified by the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). NDTV has stated that although an agreement has been reached, there is nothing binding on the plan’s implementation. There has been no time frame that has been set for the implementation of the plan, while the extent of the developments remain vague.
