Kathmandu. Since the third week of October, the Northern regions of Humla has been experiencing freezing temperatures at night. Due to the extreme temperature, hoteliers have already moved to lower areas and schools are set to end the academic session. The Nepal Police stations in Hilsa and Limi are also planning to shift to the district headquarter, in Simikot.
The last two days have been very difficult due to snowfall and extreme minus 7-degree temperature at night. However, the local farmers are happy to welcome the second snowfall of this year, because snow loosens the soil and makes it easy to plough the land for the cultivation of barley, wheat and naked barley.
The people in Khaptad area of Doti are also glad to see the snowfall followed by an increase in the flow of tourists who rush to see the bright view of mountains decorated with snow. The officials of Khaptad National Park have informed that the tourists won’t face any problem until December, as the snow will undergo heavy freezing from January. In order to minimize the spread of Covid-19 virus, the local government has issued guidelines for the movement of tourists. Doti’s Dipayal airport has also resumed its services recently after 10 years
Due to westerlies, most parts of the country on Monday experienced a sudden decrease in temperature due to partly cloudy and dark skies. Today, the weather has turned back to mainly fair in many areas. Except for Ghorahi, Pokhara and Janakpur, the other major cities have no traces of rainfall.
