Tap water freezes in Humla, police station plans to shift

Simkot. Since the third week of October, the temperature in northern areas of Humla has dropped to freezing cold. The temperature being too low at night, the water in streams, taps and buckets are freezing to ice. 

The head of border outpost (BOP), Inspector of Armed Police Force, Suraj KC informed National News Agency RSS) that the police station in Hilsa is preparing to shift to Simkot in the third week of November. 

Due to very low temperature, every year, hoteliers and Nepal Police Stations in high areas including Hilsa and Limi have been shifting to the district headquarters. However, with the establishment of BOP in Hilsa, the Armed Police Force deployed for border security will remain in the hills for the whole year, even during winters.

Humla experiences heavy rainfall and minus 15-degree temperature in the month of January and February.
