Nepal Police in Nepal-China border returning back; APF will remain during extreme temperatures

Simikot. Since the third week of October, the temperature in the northern areas of Humla has dropped to freezing levels. The temperature that records at minus in the night, has the water in streams, taps and buckets freezing to ice. With the effects of the westerlies, the last few days have been difficult due to snowfall and extreme minus 7-degree temperature at night.
Like every year, this year also the hoteliers and Nepal Police in high areas including Hilsa and Limi are shifting to the district headquarters in winters. On Tuesday, a 14-member team led by Inspector Jung Bahadur Ale of the Nepal China border Police Post in Hilsa shifted to the district headquarter Simikot. Earlier, the police post at Sunkhani and North Namkha Municipality had moved to Simikot.
While the Police plans to return back to the high areas in June, the 22-personnel-team of the Armed Police Force led by Inspector Suraj KC, deployed in Border outposts will remain in Hilsa even during extreme winters. Humla experiences heavy rainfall and minus 15-degree temperature in the month of January and February.
