Innovation Laboratory to be built in Israel by AstraZeneca, Amazon and Pfizer

Kathmandu, January 1. A laboratory for Digital Health and Computational Biology is about to be built in Israel by pharmaceutical companies Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Merk and Terva along with companies such as Amazon Web Services and Biotech Fund. Israeli authorities have announced the making of the lab that will cost around US$ 10 million.

The powerful proposal of the construction of the laboratory was selected from many other projects that competed in a contest. The lab is said to be constructed at the Rehovot Science Park, where the Weizmann Institute of Sciences is located. The Innovation Lab is said to support entrepreneurs, startups and projects related to the health sector. The companies joining the lab shall receive funding from the Innovation Authority and the National Digital Ministry of Israel.

The official statement from Innovation Authority stated, “The rapid development of vaccines for the covid-19 virus owes its success in part to the Artificial Intelligence capabilities of leading pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Moderna. These areas are expected to be more significant in the coming years. The purpose of the laboratory is to assist in the establishment and advancement of new startups that develop innovative computational technologies based on Artificial Intelligence and aimed at discovering personalized treatments and solutions.”
