Kathmandu, February 16. American scientist and immunologist Dr Anthony Fauci is honoured with a prestigious USD 1 million Dan David Prize for his contribution in the field of “vaccines” during the pandemic.

The Israel-based Dan David Foundation on Monday stated that 80-year old Dr Fauci is “courageously defending science during the challenging COVID crisis.” Along with Fauci, two additional 1 million dollars shared prizes were given to six researchers.

Dr. Fauci is the chief medical adviser of US President Joe Biden. He is one of the world’s leading experts on infectious disease and is the highest-paid federal employee in the United States. “He had earned recognition over a lifetime of leadership on HIV research and AIDS relief, as well as his advocacy for the vaccines against COVID-19,” the foundation stated.

The Dan David Prize is an annual Israeli award that grants three prizes of US$1 million each for outstanding achievements that improve our world. Three prizes of one million US dollars each are granted annually in the fields chosen for the three-time dimensions: past, present and future.

Every year, winners donate 10% of the prize money to postgraduate students in their respective fields, thereby encouraging new scholars to excel in their field.
