Kathmandu, February 19. The People’s Liberation Army on Friday confirmed that  4 Chinese soldiers were killed during the Galwan Valley clash in June last year. The four soldiers were identified as Battalion Commander Chen Hongjun, Fighters Chen Xiangrong, Xiao Siyuan and Wang Zhuoran.

According to the official newspaper of Chinese Military, the Central Military Commission of China(CMC) awarded four PLA frontiers who were deployed at the Karakoram Mountain range, for their sacrifice during the clash with Indian army in Galwan valley.  CMC also awarded Regiment Commander from the PLA Xinjiang Military Command, Qi Fabao who sustained serious head injuries.

The Galwan valley clash is regarded as the worst clash at the India-china border since 1962 A.D. A total of twenty soldiers from the Indian Army were killed in the clash which was triggered when the troops of either of these countries attempted to trespass into the enemy’s land.

China and India have been embroiled in boundary issues ever since the British left the Indian subcontinent after drawing the McMahon line in 1914, setting grounds for future conflict.

After nine months-long military stand-off, both India and China last week reached an agreement reached in the ninth round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting that decided to initiate a phased disengagement of the frontline troops and tanks along the Ladakh border in the banks of Pangong Tso Lake.
