Bhairahawa’s International airport to be adorned with Buddha’s statue imported from Myanmar

Kathmandu, October 22. On Thursday, a special statue of Buddha carved out of white jade arrived in Bhairahawa. The statue will be installed at the Gautam Buddha International Airport’s frontage.

According to sources, Spain-based Lumbini Garden Foundation purchased the monument for roughly 250 crore rupees from Myanmar’s mining company “Malwin Group.” The statue was shipped from Myanmar via Hong Kong and Kolkata Ports. The Lumbini Garden Foundation will be handing over the statue to the government of Nepal.

The height of the statue is 1.9 meters and weighs around 1800 kilograms. 

The statue will be unveiled on October 31 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari. To attend the special function, a high-level delegation team will arrive from Spain.
