Over 9,000 government employees violate Corruption Prevention Act by failing to submit property details

Kathmandu, April 26. The National Vigilance Centre announced on Tuesday that over 9,000 government employees violated the legal provision that requires them to submit property details within 60 days of every fiscal year. 

The Corruption Prevention Act, 2059 mandates this provision for all government employees working across the country to ensure transparency.

The Centre urged the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority to impose a fine of Rs 5,000 on all of the 9,590 employees (including 6,646 federal level employees and 1,917 local level employees) who failed to comply with the rule.

The list of violators also include 1,158 school teachers, 113 Nepal Police personnel, and 1,922 individuals working under political appointments or contract-based employment.
