Nepal Mediciti Hospital Scandal: Billing department employees arrested in Massive Fraud Investigation

Kathmandu, June 7. Three employees working at Nepal Mediciti Hospital have been arrested for defrauding more than 26.3 lakh rupees. The police started investigating after receiving a complaint about the employees in the hospital’s billing department embezzling money.

The District Police Range Lalitpur arrested three individuals, including the technical head of the hospital’s billing department, named Raghav Sapkota from Bhaktapur Thimi, Sanam Deshar from Lalitpur Chapagaon, and Ashish Aryal from Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

According to the police, the employees manipulated the hospital’s billing software called Shukra to deceive patients and steal money. During the investigation, it was discovered that they recorded lower fees in the software while actually charging patients the correct amount for services like ward fees, doctor fees, and nursing charges.
