Kathmandu, Jan 25: The Nepali Congress has announced the commencement of the ‘Sumadayama Congress’ campaign, scheduled to run from January 13th to 26th, aiming to foster direct communication with the public and incorporate their input into the party’s policy-making process.

As outlined by the party office, the campaign will focus on soliciting people’s expectations, suggestions, and grievances by engaging with communities. The initiative also includes assessing the state of service delivery at the local level and observing development and good practices within communities.

Krishna Prasad Paudel, Chief Secretary, emphasized that the primary goal of the campaign is to proactively implement suggestions from the public at various levels and use them as a guiding force in the party’s policymaking, including discussions at the general committee meetings.

To ensure the widespread reach of the campaign, central representatives have been appointed at the district level. By January 15th, representatives will be designated in all 6,743 wards through coordination with the district working committee. The party office disclosed that central office bearers will actively participate in the campaign at various locations, focusing primarily on the ward level.

Given the campaign’s emphasis on listening to the people, formal programs such as speeches and gatherings will be eschewed. The inaugural phase, starting on January 16 with a special program on Martyr’s Day, will be exclusively conducted in the 6,743 wards.

In addition to the central representatives, the party has called upon officials and members of the Congress at various levels, along with individuals affiliated with fraternal associations and benevolent organizations, to actively engage in the wards where they are active members.

During this phase of the campaign, all ward participants are encouraged to contribute to labor-related or social work. The campaign is slated to conclude on January 26, coinciding with the memorial day of the late party president Sushil Koirala.

The program’s format encourages active participation from all levels of the party, urging those in charge to immerse themselves in community activities on January 16th to ensure the success and effectiveness of the Congress campaign.
