Kathmandu, Mar 14: In the ongoing case involving Sandeep Lamichhane and the rape allegations against him, the government has taken a significant step by approaching the High Court to seek an enhanced sentence for Sandeep. The appeal has been made to the Patan High Court, where the government is asserting that the victim, identified as ‘Gaushala 26’, is a minor. The appeal specifically demands that Sandeep be prosecuted for the crime of raping a minor.

Initially, Sandeep was found guilty in the rape case by the District Court Kathmandu. However, during the trial, it was established that the victim, Gaushala 26, was not a minor, leading to certain complexities in the legal proceedings. In response to his conviction, Sandeep has already filed an appeal with the Patan High Court, maintaining his innocence and seeking a fair judgment.

Now, with the government’s appeal to the same court, contesting the victim’s age as a minor, the case has taken a new turn. The Patan High Court will play a crucial role in examining the evidence and making a decisive ruling that will have significant implications for both Sandeep Lamichhane and the victim in this high-profile case.
